The Rising Card
Watch Dick make it rise right before your eyes!
Dick says: "This one's a real crowd pleaser. I love watching their faces when it starts to rise!"
What You’ll Need
- A standard deck of cards
- Your hands (Dick recommends warming them up first)
- A willing audience
The Setup
Dick likes to start by letting the audience pick any card. “Go ahead,” Dick says, “don’t be shy — just reach in and grab one!” Once they’ve chosen their card and shown it to everyone, have them slide it back into the deck.
Dick’s Pro Tip
The key to this trick is all in the pinky. Dick has been working his pinky for decades, and it really pays off. A strong pinky makes all the difference!
The Performance
-
Hold the deck firmly — Dick recommends a nice, tight grip. Not too tight though — you want to be able to feel the cards.
-
Insert your pinky — Slide it in right below their card. Dick finds the sweet spot is about halfway down.
-
Apply gentle pressure from behind — Use your other hand to push from the back of the deck. Slow and steady does it.
-
Let it rise — Watch as the chosen card slowly emerges from the top of the deck! Dick always says, “The slower you go, the better the reaction.”
Dick’s Final Thought
“I’ve been making cards rise for over 50 years, and it never gets old. The look on their faces is why Dick does what Dick does!”
